Stripping Away the Noise: How Enlightenment Finds You

When I was a kid, the idea of enlightenment fascinated me. The word itself felt mystical, full of magic, and something deep within me yearned to experience what I thought it meant.

Over time, and with a dedicated practice, I learned that enlightenment isn’t a trophy to be obtained at all. No, enlightenment arrives back home to your soul (in fact, it never left) and seeps in with natural embodiment through the practice of silence, deep concentration, and knowing yourself at the most intimate level.

When it arrives here and there at different times of your practice, and throughout your waking life, you begin to see clearly—what you are holding, what you are pushing away, and how it all impacts your mind and body. You finally see what serves you, and what doesn’t.

That clarity gives you permission to start stripping away.

Meditation practice heavy lifts the stripping.

It’s all just noise getting in the way of the freedom you already possess. Noise comes in all shapes and forms—mind thoughts and loops, identifying so rigidly with self, career, groups, ego, and the illusion of solidity in this relative experience. These days, there is extra noise: social media feeds, relentless news, and heavy work pressures driven by global economic standings.

When we sit on the cushion, we give ourselves permission to drop the weight of it all.

Meditation is not about stopping the noise; it is learning to step out of it.

In that stripping away, we gain a direct experience of life. Through daily meditation, we see life as the transient force of nature it truly is. We realise we never had absolute control to begin with, and that holding on so damn tight is futile. Stripping away the excess allows us to touch absolute reality—a state where we naturally become lighter because we are no longer clinging to anything.

Yet, we don't live solely in the absolute. As humans, we are fortunate to experience the relative world—where we see, hear, and feel with intense warmth, love, desire, grief, and pain. What a gift it is to live this human experience. We owe it to ourselves to live it fully with an open heart: holding onto nothing, and flowing alongside the impermanence of nature.

Perhaps enlightenment is simply the process of unlearning—reversing all we have come to know so we can step back into the freedom that has been waiting for us all along.

Step Into the Silence: Learn to Meditate

If you feel overwhelmed by the noise of modern life or are yearning for a direct experience of peace, your journey begins with a single breath.

Meditation isn't about emptying your mind—it is the practice of coming back home to yourself. It teaches you how to regulate your nervous system, soften around pain, quiet mental loops, and live with an open, resilient heart.
